As
aging goobers are prone to do, CV has spent his early retirement years looking
up old friends, revisiting favorite places, and more-or-less living in the past. On
May 24, 2003 a reunion was held for former students at Savannah, GA’s Eli
Whitney Elementary School. This event coincided with the completion of the
school’s 50th year as well as the decision to close the school. A
website for the school has been set up, and a formal Eli Whitney School Alumni
Association is being established.
Click here to visit the Eli Whitney School website. Along the line of living in the past and uncovering roots, as it were, CV is interested in the family genealogy. CV
and others are working on the family genealogy, and a fair amount if information
has been developed about our Varner, Tatum, Zuber and Lee ancestors. We are working to have one of the old Savannah childhood neighborhoods, Pine Gardens on the East Side, near the river, added to the National Register of Hilstoric Districts.
